Principal's Message

A big welcome back to everyone for Term 3, albeit in different COVID safe circumstances. I certainly hope everyone had a relaxing break and are ready to go for what will possibly be a busy Semester Two ahead of us.

Firstly, you may notice the newsletter looking slightly different. We have made some changes to the organisation and the layout to try and make the newsletter more streamlined, easier to read and more user friendly for our families. It will still contain all of the bits and pieces many of us look for but hopefully will be a little easier to follow. We are also now sending the newsletter out (via our e-news app) each Friday afternoon so that it is fresh in your mind and ready for the week ahead! Like always, feedback is always greatly appreciated so feel free to contact me with any suggestions.

At the end of last term we said our goodbyes to Mrs Thurston, and once again we wish her well in her retirement, we thank her for the dedication that she gave to Lake Albert and hope she is enjoying the relaxing life with her family in Port Macquarie. Personally, I would like to thank all those families that have sent their best wishes and words of support to myself as I take over as Principal of our fantastic school and I certainly look forward to some exciting, productive, motivating and inspiring times ahead.

The retirement of Mrs Thurston has also meant some staff changes and re-shuffling. Ms Anamaree Williams is now relieving in my previous role as Deputy Principal and Mrs Joanne Bowen is now reliving in the position of Assistant Principal Kindergarten. Mrs Deanne Lucas is now the class teacher of class KL (formally KW). I have no doubt that these changes will continue to have both our executive and teaching team striving forward and working for the best for our students.

The current COVID situation that is upon us has also meant some changes that will affect many of us in our day to day interaction with school. Whilst for the major part school will run as usual for all our students, there are however some significant restrictions that have come into place. Parents are currently not permitted on the school site, however, if you must enter the school grounds mask wearing is required. All visitors and parents must check in via the QR code every time. More details around COVID restrictions are detailed later in the newsletter.

Finally, one of the best things I find about being part of this school is the great attitude towards learning and the friendly and happy character of all our students. One thing that COVID has facilitated is the opportunity to meet students at the front gate each morning and I am always so impressed with how polite and engaging our students are. Remember our school vision:

Make it count – Every student, every teacher, every minute, every day!
