Principal's Message

Day for Daniel

A big thank you to our students who supported our Day for Daniel fundraiser. We managed to raise over $500 which has been sent to the Morcombe foundation to support their efforts in programs aimed at keeping our children safe. An amazing effort!

2021 Kindergarten

An update to our staffing and classes for 2021 – we have decided to add an additional Kindergarten class next year. We will have 4 classes, with Lucy Niccol, Jessica Chapman, Jane Antrim and Anamaree Williams as the 2021 Kindergarten teachers. Anamaree will remain as the Assistant Principal on Kindergarten. Planning is well underway for our 2 modified Kindergarten Orientation days. These will be on Thursday 26 November and Thursday 3 December from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Details of the 2 days will be provided in coming weeks to our families. The children will get to meet the four 2021 teachers (who are very excited!). What a wonderful year our kinders will have with these four amazing teachers!

Bus behaviour

Over recent weeks I have had several calls from Busabout, as well as from some parents regarding the behaviour of some of our students travelling on the bus to and from school. I have spoken to all bus travellers regarding their responsibility and abiding by the bus Code of Conduct. I have also reminded them that whilst ever they are in Lake Albert uniform, they are representing our school and any negative behaviour reflects poorly on our school. Our expectations of Respectful, Responsible and Resilient behaviours apply at all times for LAPS students. If students are having any issues on the bus, they need to first and foremost report it to the bus driver. Students or parents can then contact me to let me know as I will certainly follow up at school.

NAIDOC Week

This week we have been very fortunate to have had Aunty Gail, a local Wiradjuri elder, open our NAIDOC Week with a Welcome to Country. Aunty Gail has been visiting every morning sharing her weaving skills, stories and culture with our Stage 3 classes. What a great privilege to have her with us. As well as Aunty Gail, we had students from Kooringal High School, along with Mentor Wes Boney, present a traditional dance to our students – it was fantastic. A huge thanks to these KHS students and to Wes for sharing with us. Our Aboriginal Education team has organised for a variety of activities for students to be involved in throughout the week. Later this week we also have Rebecca Adlington visiting to share her artistic skills with our K-2 students – thank you Rebecca!

Remembrance Day

Today we remembered those brave men and women who sacrificed for us during a COVID-style Remembrance Day service. Our captains Mika and Lachlan hosted the service via our PA system.
