NAIDOC Celebrations
During week 5 we celebrated NAIDOC week in November at Lake Albert Public School. Throughout the week, students took part in a range of learning experiences. NAIDOC Week started off with an opening ceremony which included a Welcome to Country from Aunty Gail and a dance by Kooringal High Dance Group.
Kindergarten and Stage One were very lucky to have Rebecca Adlington share her knowledge of Aboriginal art and storytelling. Students created their very own handprint artwork using the dotting technique.
Stage Three students had an amazing opportunity to learn about the art of weaving with Aunty Gail and were supported by Shelby. Shelby gifted our school a beautiful Acknowledgment of Country plaque which will be displayed as you enter our office. All students were involved in NAIDOC games throughout the week where they learnt about various games played across Australia by Aboriginal people. They learnt the names of the games and the traditional equipment used to play.
