Welcome to Term 4!
Welcome back to all of our bright-eyed and bushytailed students. We are into the final term of what has been an unprecedented year, and one which has certainly taken its toll on all of us. We aim to ensure that Term 4 is as ‘normal’ as we can make it, and filled with lots of great learning and other fun events to ensure we end 2020 on a positive note. Please ensure you regularly read our newsletters, check our ENews app and Facebook pages for reminders and updates. Have a great term everyone!
Tabloids Fun
We ended Term 3 on a wonderful note with our House Teams tabloids day. All of our students and staff enjoyed participating in a variety of novelty events led by our super Year 6 students. A huge thank you to our P&C for providing the sausage sizzle lunch for everyone. It was greatly appreciated and certainly helped to lift spirits.
Book Week
We will be celebrating Book Week next week. Our wonderful librarians, Ms McKenzie & Mrs Williams have developed plans for the week. We are hosting a ‘virtual’ Book Fair, as well as Book Character dress up day on Wednesday 21 October and a virtual author visit. More details in this newsletter.
Farewell to wonderful staff/ welcome to some new & familiar faces!
As advised via our Facebook page at the end of term, we have lost 3 wonderful teachers. Miss Davenport is very soon expecting her first baby. An exciting time ahead for her. We hope we will see her back in the future. Ms Veronica Manns was successful in securing a permanent position in Canberra and we wish her the very best. Mrs Suzanne Heffer is currently on long service leave, but will take up a new position at the Riverina Anglican College in 2021. Suzanne has been a wonderful, dedicated member of the LAPS community for over 8 years but she felt it was time to spread her wings and try a new challenge. We will certainly miss these ladies. We do however welcome aboard 1 new face, and 2 familiar faces for Term 4. Miss Trish Bolton has taken over the 5/6T class. Trish met with the students during the last week of term and is very excited to be joining us. The students have settled beautifully with Trish and I know they will have a wonderful term with her. The 1M class will be very well cared for with both Ms Anamaree Williams (Mondays) and Mrs Nicole Bourne (Tuesday – Friday) taking over the class. The Stage 3 release from face-to-face lessons will now be taken by Ms Michelle Nosworthy. Michelle has long been a familiar face at LAPS and it is wonderful to welcome her back for
Term 4. COVID updates
The Term 4 updates have been provided with some easing of restrictions. Our students will be able to undertake some smaller (class/ stage-based) excursions (with venues having strict COVID plans in place). Parents and carers will be informed of these as the term progresses but we have Kindergarten attending a live show at the Civic Theatre; Stage 1 possibly attending Jindera; Stage 3 students attending the Temora Aviation Museum. Information regarding 2021 captain elections, Presentation assemblies (there will not be a Presentation Night), Year 6 farewell and dinner will be provided in due course. Our band has recommenced rehearsals, albeit with strict distancing rules being followed. Unfortunately, our choirs cannot resume, nor can our regular K-2 Christmas assembly take place. Parents are still restricted from coming onto the school grounds.
2021 Kindergarten Transition
This year, again due to COVID restrictions, our Kindergarten transition program will be greatly modified. We will be hosting 2 x 1 hour visits in Weeks 7 and 8 of term. These will be on Thursday 26th November and Thursday 3rd December from 2.00- 3.00pm. Again, parents will be required to drop off the children and pick them up from outside the school grounds. More details regarding this will be provided to our families.
