Principal's Message

Meet & Greet

Thank you to the many families who came along last night to have a ‘Meet & Greet’ with teachers. I am hoping this was a valuable opportunity for families to have an informal chat with staff about the upcoming year. Parents are more than welcome to contact teachers to make a more formal meeting time if required. A big thank you to our P&C team who coordinated the BBQ and drinks.

Best Start Meetings

Parents of Kindergarten students will have the opportunity to attend a parent-teacher interview to go over their child’s Best Start report. These will occur in Week 5 with teachers sending our notes for parents to book in times to meet. Student-led conferences All students K-6 will receive their Semester 1 reports at the end of next term. This year we will be holding student-led conferences in Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 3. Our aim is to have the children take more ownership of their learning – stay tuned for more on this as the year goes on.

Uniform

School uniforms provide a way for our students to feel a sense of connection and belonging. Already we appear to have a number of students in incorrect uniform. All boys should be wearing GREY shorts with grey socks. Girls should either be wearing their dress or school skorts with white socks. Blue shorts should only be worn by boys on sport or gymnastics days – they should be wearing white socks on these occasions. At the moment we seem to have blue shorts being worn every day by many of our boys. We also seem to be having a multitude of coloured socks being worn (many black with writing on them) – these are not school uniform and certainly take away from the pride our LAPS students should be showing in wearing their school uniform. I would appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring the correct uniform is worn.
